M1911
The M1911, similar to the AR-15, is a standardized firearm platform. Because of its adoption into military service in the 20th century, we have mil-spec to work off of. This means that nearly every part for an M1911 in .45ACP will work with our frame, excepting officer style slides. M1911’s are traditionally built on a steel frame, yet ours are made of aluminum, and will last a lifetime nonetheless.
We support both the Government style and Commander style of M1911 frames, Commander style being more viable for concealed carry. The Officer style, however, has significantly different dimensions than the other two styles, so we do not support it.
You will need some specialized tools for this build, so reference the Helpful Tools and Gunsmith Supplies FAQ for the short list of those tools and where to find them.
Once you have finished the frame using the Ghost Gunner, you are going to need the inside parts of the pistol. This includes the slide, slide parts, barrel, and frame parts. Below, you can find various affordable kits. Sarco kits are quite affordable, yet they require more hand fitting and patience than any other kit. If you are willing to endure, this is the most cost-effective option.
