Check Axis Mounts

The gantry should not move freely or shake if you attempt to push it to the left or right. You should not be able to push the spindle forward and backward with ease. Properly seated ball screw threading continues all the way to the bearing with no unthreaded portion exposed. The bearing ring should be flush with the mount. Manually turning the stepper motor coupling should cause corresponding motion along the axis without binding.

 1.  Inspect mechanical components to verify axes are mounted properly.

2.  The Y ball screw bearing fits flush to the mount as depicted in this image.  

3.  The following image depicts the Z axis bearing flush to its mount and Z stepper motor coupling properly attached. The machine’s rear panel has been removed.
