X-Axis Repair
Use the following instructions to reattach the left or right X axis coupling.
1. Remove the bolt and nut protruding through the metal guard on the inner side of the bay. Work the guard out of the bottom of the machine.
2. Once the guard is removed, the left x ball screw, mount, coupling, and stepper motor will be accessible.
3. Examine where the ball screw threads into the bearing. The bearing should be flush to the mount. If the bearing is protruding from the mount, loosen the bearing mount pinch bolt, push the ball screw and bearing assembly toward the stepper motor to squeeze the assembly back together, then tighten the pinch bolt.
Caution | Do not over tighten pinch bolt or it may crush the bearing. The axis components should be able to rotate with minimal resistance.
4. The coupling is a gray and red cylinder with small set screws. You may need to reconnect the coupling so that it looks like the image. It may be necessary to rotate the coupling so that it fits back together to form a tight cylinder.
5. Tighten the set screws on the coupling. You may need to use some loctite if the set screw is stripped.
6. Reattach the metal guard to the left side of the bay and install bolt and nut. Tighten until snug. Do not over-tighten.
7. Follow the procedure in this video to level your t-slot platform. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gx0B33X4A3adbdz3M_ZTRwNYou-PihjG/view?usp=sharing
